Subsea Data Systems Attends PTC’25 and the SMART Cables JTF Meeting
The Pacific Telecommunications Council's annual conference returned to Honolulu, Hawaii this year, and Subsea Data Systems was there to connect with industry leaders and advance the future of undersea telecommunications.
SDS’s President Matt Fouch and CTO Steve Lentz spent the week engaging with both potential customers and suppliers, exploring new partnerships and opportunities in the rapidly evolving subsea cable industry. These meetings highlighted the growing demand for innovative data solutions as global connectivity needs continue to expand.
Beyond the main conference floor, the team participated in the SMART Cables Joint Task Force summit held at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. SMART (Science Monitoring And Reliable Telecommunications) cables represent an exciting frontier in ocean technology, integrating environmental and scientific sensors into traditional telecommunications infrastructure. The summit brought together researchers, industry experts, and policymakers to discuss how these next-generation cables can simultaneously serve communication needs while gathering critical oceanographic and seismic data.
The combination of business development meetings and technical collaboration at the SMART Cables summit made PTC '25 a productive event for Subsea Data Systems. As the industry continues to innovate, partnerships formed at conferences like PTC will be essential for building the connected, data-rich ocean infrastructure of tomorrow.
