CTO Steve Lentz Presents SMART Cable Progress at SubOptic’23 in Bangkok

CTO Steve Lentz presented our latest results at the SubOptic ‘23 conference in Bangkok on March 15, 2023. Steve addressed that with the use of Subsea’s SMART (Science Monitoring and Reliable Telecommunications) Cable prototype, scientific data centers have been retrieving data since July 2022.  This data provides significant improvement to warning times for earthquakes and tsunamis, advances geological and climate research and offers intel on undersea activities such as resource exploitation, infrastructure development, or hostile activity. 

SubOptic 2023, the industry-renowned submarine telecoms conference, was held in Bangkok, Thailand from 13-16 March 2023. A triennial event, the SubOptic conference is the longest running and most comprehensive conference series in the world for the submarine cable industry.
