Subsea Data Systems Team Attends PTC’24

SDS President Dr. Matt Fouch and CTO Steve Lentz attended the Pacific Telecommunications Council Conference, January 21 - 24, 2024 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Steve presented the team’s latest progress to the U.N. Joint Task Force for SMART Cables in developing the first complete SMART Cable sensor system, a research and development (R&D) effort supported by the National Science Foundation’s SBIR Program and Schmidt Marine Technology Partners. The system is ready for incorporation within either a subsea fiber cable repeater or in a separate pressure housing.

Matt participated in a cable sensing panel entitled “Submarine Cable: Sniffing Around a Sensitive Subject.”
